  1. We have a number of quad GPO and I didn't think carefully enough about whether I wanted them horizontal or vertical (if there is a choice!!. Now that the furniture is in place in some areas I wish I had gone for 2 doubles that could have tucked behind furniture more easily......
And our two pendant lights have slowly lost their 'springiness' (don't we all over time!) and now hang much lower than we want. Maybe easy to fix, but somehow we never get around to it (maybe I should make sure the potential repairer hits his head on them more often!). We have three phone sockets... one for the multiple portable main set: one for the 'ordinary phone that works when the power goes off' and one extra out in the garage (seemed a good idea at the time!. As you know I like moving furniture around and I didn't put in as much flexibility for the TV sockets and data points as I would have wished... although with WiFi it's not so bad for the data points.
Hope you're having fun in this planning stage and not letting it get to you!

  2. We were told we only needed one phone point (I had 4 on my plan!)
I think we are OK with Quads - one in theatre, one in family and one in the appliance cupboard in the kitchen....and I am not really a furniture 'mover'!!
All going OK at the moment, Lis.

  3. wow it looks like you had a great time with the electrical selection.).we really enjoyed the electrical as it let you see how the house would look like( not the cost of it) HSI is expensive..we have about 70 downlights.. got the wiring done for surround sound and data points... our electrical ended up at around $16500.. we didnt do the NBN..may i ask how much it was for NBN?

  4. Hi LN,
Interesting about NBN. We were told (& listened to them) that we really needed to be wired for NBN. Once it is rolled out in our area, if we don't wire up we won't have access to Internet or a phone line?? I didn't want to be retrofitted our brand new house and having to regyprock & repaint. It cost $635 from memory.

  5. Hi Kerith..

thanks for the information. we didnt think about the NBN and no one said anything bout no access to internet and phone line if you done get it.. Hmm something to think about.. i dont think we can add that now that all over pcv are done. Did you think about pre wire for the intercom? ( the unit they have is expensive, i think theres cheaper ones you can buy)Can also ask what was the total cost for above electrical plan for you? It has been almost a year for us now.. i hope they start work soon..

  6. Nah, didn't want intercom so that was an easy decision.
The electrical guy said that he has to talk about NBN with every client - obviously a new thing.
Total cost was $19.5K which was OK given $12K was on down lights!

  9. From what I was told, you can't add up the figures on the sheet given to you as it includes things that are standard. If you have any questions, ask them. You are the customer. I would ask about NBN too - might be worth paying a variation fee rather than having to retrofit later. See what they say about being NBN ready....
